Car Audio Options

Most of the cars sold in India do not come with company fitted stereo systems. Cars in the high end segment usually come with factory fitted car stereo, speakers and sometimes, amplifiers. This basic setup is enough for many, who are content with the factory fitted car stereo and don’t give a second thought about the quality of the music output. But a discernible few, like you, might have listened to your favorite song in your friend’s car and discovered the existence of new notes, beats and few other instruments which are not distinguishable in your car stereo; or maybe that CD which sounded great in your home theatre sounded rather dull in your car. Your ears are telling you something – The sound system is not up to the mark!

If you are new to car audio, you have a long way to go to get that ‘perfect’ sound. Choosing right components from many aftermarket In-Car entertainment products will prove to be a daunting task.

Generally, your vehicle’s audio system is made of a stereo receiver and four speakers. In most cases, replacing these with an aftermarket receiver and matching speakers will do the trick.

Not all the cars have same locations for speakers and not all size speakers can be readily fitted in a car. Car manufacturers normally choose different speaker sizes. In most cases, the car’s user manual doesn’t mention the speaker sizes. Usually, 6?x9? speakers are fitted in the rear tray, if there is no provision to install speakers in the rear door. Knowing the speaker size can sometimes involve actually unscrewing a portion of door and measure it manually. Generally, internet is the best resource to find out the exact speaker sizes that can be fitted in your car. But now- there’s no need to hunt for information. We at Acoustics For You, have tried to list the size & location of speaker placements and the other enhancement options such as ‘adding an amplifier’, ‘adding subwoofer’ for most of the cars.
