Mark Levinson Shows New Line of Daniel Hertz Audio Components
November 12, 2009
Each Daniel Hertz speaker is ‘a work of art and a collector’s item, as well as a musical instrument.’
Daniel Hertz (a new hi end audio brand name from Daniel Hertz SA, Switzerland) is being launched by Mark Levinson a musician, recording engineer and audio designer. The new line of high end speakers include M1, M2, M7 and M3 (subwoofer) branded Daniel Hertz. Daniel Hertz products are designed to reproduce the softest, most delicate musical material up to the sound of a helicopter landing in front of you.
With a price tag of $75,000 for a pair, M1 loudspeakers were created to combine dynamic linearity and punch with the sonic transparency of the best audio products. The M1 speaker sports a horn-loaded compression tweeter, 10-inch composite midrange/woofer, and 18-inch composite woofer. The M1′s sensitivity of 100dB/W/m is far higher than most consumer models, allowing it to play very loud with very little power.
The M2 ($25,000/pair) incorporates the same tweeter and 10-inch midrange/woofer without the 18-inch woofer found in the M1. The M3 subwoofer ($18,000 each) features a single 18-inch driver.
Rounding out the offerings is the M7 ($17,000/pair), which utilizes the same tweeter and midrange/woofer as the other models. The only difference between the M7 and M2 is the midrange/woofer’s distance from the floor, which affects its low-frequency characteristics.
When asked about the specs for the new speakers, Levinson replied, ‘Our drivers are measured to be as flat as technology allows. ‘All speakers are made in a piano factory in Prague which explains their craftsmanship.
