Sony launches its made-for-iPod HU: CDX-GT45IP

December 1, 2008

car_pressSony launched a new head unit in Xplod series, CDX-GT45IP, a ‘made-for-iPod’ car audio receiver. It features a hardwired dedicated input cable for iPod connectivity, that allows, iPod browsing, song listing, commanding and even iPod charging. And, ofcourse, the other auxiliary connections are still there, allowing you to connect your non-apple MP3 players, mini-discs or cassette player.

Having said that, unfortunately it lacks few of the very advanced features, that appeal to an Audiophile, such as number of Pre-amp outputs. Unlike Pioneer models, It has 2 pre-amp outputs, one for front & other for Rear/Subwoofer. It would have been fantastic, if they had 2 pre-amps for front & rear and a separate pre-out for Subwoofer, so that, it gives lot of flexibility & allows for proper tuning of your car audio. Also, the pre-amp output max. voltage is 2V compared 4V in Pioneer HU.

Well, in these days of ‘connectivity’, the product will still shine as people don’t prefer burning new CD & changing CDs. And also it is priced at Rs. 8490/- and thus not keenly targeted for Audiophiles.

Below are few features & details, that might help:

Technical Features (only important ones are listed)

  • Output Power (at 4-ohms): 27W x 4
  • Max. Output power: 52W x 4
  • MP3/WMA/AAC/CD-TEXT: Yes
  • Changer Control: No
  • Audio AUX: Front Input – 3.5 mm jack.
  • Pre-amp output Max. Voltage: 2V

CDX-GT45IP is really a value for money. The price has dropped to 7500 rs now.
Its a good deal compared to the features it gives.

Got something to say?
