Wireless-Ready Subwoofers by Boston Acoustics: Freedom from Cables

October 13, 2009

Cables running between Receivers and Amplifiers and their speakers have been an irritant for long time. This applies even more so to Sub Woofers which by their very physics must be large in size.

There is good news for people who have been waiting to be liberated from the cable between the amp and the subwoofer!

Boston-Acoustics-WT-50

Boston Acoustics has launched a Wireless Transmitter WT-50 that can be used to ‘connect’ to Subwoofers with built- in Wi-Fi Receivers. With this Transmitter & Subwoofer combination you are immediately free to locate the subwoofer anywhere with a radius of 50 ft. This opens the door to letting the interior design decide the location of the subwoofers and also experimenting with the bass performance of the speakers at different locations.

Boston Acoustics’ three new Classic Series wireless-ready subwoofers, include

The 8” 200-watt (350-watt Peak) CPS 8Wi

The 10” 300-watt (650-watt Peak) CPS 10Wi

and

The 12” 400-watt (850-watt Peak) CPS 12Wi

Boston Acoustics claim the there is absolutely no loss of performance in the subwoofers when they work in the Wi-Fi mode thanks to the selectable broadcast ID channels on the receivers. So best of luck in hiding the sub woofer anywhere in the room!
